Well, we were heading to Guadalupe to pick up a load heading to Maryland, but we got switched right before the I-5 interchange (which was just in time) and meant no back tracking. I took the new load assignment which was going to be picked up in Huron, California. This is close to Kettlemen City, CA (a favorite place of ours) due to the famous Mike's Roadhouse Cafe (a favorite place to shop!) I picked out a couple more Christmas gifts, sat at the counter having a Root Beer Float and arranged my little gifts in gift bags.
We were already at the customer when they told us our load of lettuce was still in the fields... Yes, you read that right, it's definitely not ready to be picked up yet. The man took my cell number and said he would call when it was complete (meaning, the lettuce has to be brought in from the fields, cooled, and gassed (whatever that means)... then it would be ready for us.
Once we leave there, we will be taking the 40 across the USA toward Maryland. It was nice being home, Mike is feeling much better--but myself, I'm glad to be back on the road--I LOVE IT.
If there is any special little bits of interest about Kettleman City, please comment. I do have a bit of interest that I've seen for myself and that is for anyone interested in buying old "Pedal Cars", Mike's Roadhouse Cafe is the place to buy them! They have all sizes, shapes, and models, from convertibles to old time buggy's, tractors, etc.... It is the Pedal Car Collector's dream to be able to see all these cars that are available to the public for buying. If you have any comments, please don't hesitate to leave them. Bye for now...
