Here we are in Winnemucca, up on the hill, picking up a load of Potatoes from Winnemucca Farms.
This is where the potatoes were sorted before going up the belt, which is being loaded into our truck.Once they pick out the bad potatoes, they head up the belt which land in the hopper and then the potatoes get loaded into our truck.
We seem to run into people we know all over the country and our friends, Mike and Deanna Wheeler and cotton, their dog, just happened to be home in Salt Lake City, Utah, when we were coming through. As you can see, here is Mike, Dee and Cotton, having coffee the next morning. They invited us to spend the night and sleep in their spare room (which is considered our room) when we stay. We have, in fact, even signed our names on the underside of the bunkbed, where we sleep in the bottom bed...These friends of ours are still driving with CR England, the company where we started driving with, but have remained good friends. We meet them in many different places all over the country. After leaving in the morning, we drove up to Logan, Utah, picked up a half frozen/half bakery load, which is supposed to be going to Indiana. As it turned out, our load got changed about five different times. We were able to meet up with Mike and Deanna for lunch on our way out of SLC, Ut, afterall. We stop at Sapp Brothers and have a great buffet lunch....On our way into Wyoming, I caught this beautiful Sunrise.

Gorgeous, isn't it? This is one of the reasons I really enjoy this kind of lifestyle. Of course, we work hard... sometimes 7 days a week just seems like alot of work to some of you, but we really do get to have some fun at times... and as you can read about, you will see some of what I'm talking about.
In order to get us to the East Coast, our DM sends us another message: We need you to take this load to Joliet, Illinois, where you will be swapping with Truck 1962...Actually truck 1962 will be taking your load to Pendleton, Indiana, and your load is waiting in the the Joliet yard, where you will be picking up, going to Massachussets.

Guess who we will be swapping with? This turned out to be a very good friend of mine...Julie (Another driver that had been working with us at CR England) She followed us over to Knight Refrigeration and we run into her all over the country too. It was a blessing for both of us to meet up and swap loads, because it took us both closer to where we needed to be for the holiday.
On our way again...I'm starting to get nervous because of the snow....

This is what the roads look like in Ohio and in Pennsylvania. Almost like a postcard view.
We get to Connecticut and I had brought Kayla a bone and a squeaky toy!

Isn't she sweet, sleeping with her new toy! She is holding it in her paws...she was just so happy and hasn't put the toy away yet.
Yippie.... it's Thanksgiving. I got a phone call from my brother, Kevin who said they were getting the cabin in Gatlinburg, Tennessee for the New Year Holiday, and called my other friends to wish them a happy thanksgiving, but the best time was meeting up with Aunt Ellie and Uncle Pete, enjoying a wonderful holiday with them.

Here is Uncle Pete, Aunt Ellie, and Mike right before we ate dinner on Thanksgiving! What a wonderful dinner and pies and cookies, and all. What a blessing to finally make it. Uncle John is coming over shortly....this is the day after and I will get his picture to put into the blog as well. Can't wait to meet some of Mike's other cousins and family and get them into the blog so you all can see. I did send the previous picture to Mike's brother, Henry in Germany so he couldl share in this holiday of fun with us.... Hi Henry! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of my friends, family, and loved ones this holiday season! We love you all and wish you the best... Gayle
