Well I'm finally back on the truck and working... I sat for a day at the courthouse while waiting for my name to be picked for JURY DUTY, to no avail... They didn't want me; in fact, all they did want was for me to take the time to come to their courthouse to sit all day long and WAIT. Go figure. At least I know I'm good for another 18 months now since I did my duty. (if you want to call it that).
Back at work and my first delivery was frozen waffles. Guess what...? I had a claim when they finished unloading. Apparently, they wanted some chocolate chip waffles (which was NOT on the truck) and they DID get some blueberry waffles which was on the truck instead. Since the company doesn't even sell blueberry waffles, I had to contact my dispatch and let them know I had 20 cases of waffles the customer didn't want. After contacting dispatch, they had called the shipper who said to take the waffles to a food closet about 10 miles away from where I delivered my load. I had never did this before and when I got to the place to take the waffles, I realized that there was low hanging wires (too low for my trailer to go under) and so I had to flip a "bitch" and go out the same way I came in, which wasn't easy. Oh, the story gets better, stay tuned...
After using a forklift to lift a hand jack up to the trailer because this place didn't have a loading dock for a big truck, I told the people to enjoy the waffles and was on my merry way (Mike was sleeping through this whole ordeal!). After I got about 2 miles from there, I had realized that I didn't get a receipt for the goods from the food closet so I contacted my Dispatch Manager who said, "go back" get a receipt. Of course, this is just what I wanted to do my first day back... NOT. But I did and the guys were standing around kinda waiting for me...He he he. The guy wrote me a receipt for $460, which is cheap considering he just got 20 cases of waffles for nothing. He did say to me that he wished I had been there in time for breakfast, though.... He was just kidding. My next load is a trip... read on.
