Well, leaving Montana to Idaho Falls, I decided to take a short cut and go the beautiful Us 191 which is a short cut directly through Yellowstone Park and takes you right to Idaho. It is actually a beautiful ride right next to the river and winds around through a canyon that is just awesome! I guess the summer season is NOT the best time for a BIG truck to be driving through this town where the short cut is because there are tourists everywhere and you have to be very careful while

driving the rig through town. Well, I was being careful of the tourists and failed to see the BIG sign that said "No through TRUCK Traffic on US 191"... I made it around the corner to take my turn and the truck scales were closed too. Guess they had gone to lunch! Lucky for me... Hang on, you will understand why in just a few minutes.
If anyone has ever driven the US 191 South from Montana to Idaho Falls, you will understand my dilemma, but for those of you who haven't, hold on and I'll tell you how it went.
Like I said, I missed the BIG sign, but after driving through the Canyon for quite awhile, I finally did see the small sign that said "no through truck traffic", but by that time, I had driven miles into the canyon and there wasn't any place for a big truck to turn around! I saw other trucks coming from the other direction and it was a weekend so I figured "what the heck, I would go for it".
NOT A GOOD IDEA! I'm following the crowd of "4-wheelers" and notice a cop sitting on the shoulder---If you guessed that his RED and BLUES came on, you got it right! I really knew it was for me, but there wasn't anyplace to stop on the one lane highway full of construction, but I did it anyway! I explained to him that I missed the BIG sign, but that I did see the Little one, and by that time it was too late! I couldn't find a place to turn around going through the canyon. He took all the necessary papers, i.e., registration, insurance, license, log books, etc., and proceeded to tell me where I could turn around at--a new housing area back in the dirt lot. I guess he thought I was going to try and run away because he followed me through the back lot (there is only one way in and out, mind you) and I couldn't believe it when I saw him following me through the dirt. All he really needed to do was wait for me to turn it around and then give me the ticket and let me be on my way. Here's where I was... It was beautiful here, but I really didn't want a ticket...

The ticket actually cost me $85 because it wasn't a federal cop, only state... but it was actually worth getting the ticket because I asked the cop to pose for my blog and he did. So as you see, I DID get a ticket, but it was not for anything other than FAILING TO OBEY THE SIGNS, so for any of you out there who think you can get away with it, DON'T==you will be cited! If the sign says, "no through trucks" , it means it!...
