Clearfield, UT to California (3 drops)

Well, we finally got out of the awful Wyoming! I'm so sick and tired of Wyoming, I told our Driver Manager that I didn't want to see Wyoming for at least 3 months. After being stuck on Interstate 80 between Rawlins and Rock Springs, Wyoming; some of which was even on the interstate itself for 3 hours. I used to love going to the snow as a child, but now I hate it. We were right behind friends of ours (Mike & Deanna) in another England truck and were two of about 2000 to 3000 truck stopped on the highway. We (the two couples) decided to pull off at exit 107 in Rock Springs, instead of being herded like cattle to nearest fairgrounds to park until the roads opened. We parked in a chinese food restaurant parking lot, went in and ate chinese food and enjoyed a couple of beers. After that, it was sleep time for all. The next morning, the roads were still closed, so we walked down through the town to a little eatery (Lews Restaurant) and had a nice breakfast. The roads were finally opened and we were off again. We didn't make it very far (exit 41) which is Limon and we were stopped again! Mike and Deanna were about 7 trucks behind us at this point because they had stopped to take off the bra on their radiator and said they would catch up with us. We should have pulled off with them and waited but we didn't. Mike & Deanna have 9 years driving experience and they kept going while we shut down in Limon. I had a headache, exhausted with all this stopping and waiting, and Mike didn't want to wake me up to chain and since the chain laws were in effect, he just decided to wait it out. By this time, our load was already late and so what is the point of hurrying at this time. Mike took us to Salt Lake City where we dropped our Con-way load and then he picked up the load in Clearfield, Utah (Nestle) which is the load that is three stops (Tracy, Modesto, and Stockton). I never like multiple drop loads, but to be in California again, in fact, going right by our house is even nicer. Mike drove to Wells, Nevada, and then I took it in to Sacramento, California. I dropped the trailer, and bobtailed over to our house.

It was a nice relief to be home and to sleep in our own bed! The load didn't have to be there until Monday, 4:00, 9:00, and the last drop at 20:00. We got home, and I decided to go to my old work, visit a coworker (Shawnee) and show her our truck. When I got there, we took a little ride and noticed a cow had gotten out of the fence and was by the company eating some grass which is on the opposite side of the fence he was supposed to be on. Some time later, the cattle company showed up to herd the cow back through the open fence. It was fun helping the guy chase the cow back toward the opening.

By the time I had gotten home, it was Sunday morning, about 4:30 am. I did some laundry, fixed some mac & cheese, turned on the dishwasher, and headed to bed. When I got up at about 11:00 am, I took the truck over to Harold's house, which is a good friend who has the right tools to work on things, and tricked the truck out a little bit by putting carpet in it and fixing the laptop stand. I also ran into my sister Kim and she had my neice with her. She told me that her mom had died on the Friday before. This wasn't a nice weekend, as it turned out.... due to all that happened! Oh, wait, it gets better... keep reading...

I went to McDonald's to get some burgers Sunday evening and guess what? Someone pickpocketed me and stole my wallet. They stole it right out of my back pocket.
I felt so very violated! I had to call the bank, cancel my bank card, all my credit cards, call the fuel desk to cancel my fuel cards; just another thing to keep us from working--now I have to go to the DMV to get a temporary CDL, I had to call CRE and have them fax a copy of my medical card to my house and I just feel so terribly lost without my wallet. I guess I won't be so careless from now on.

All in all, things aren't so totally bad! There are some good people still left in this world. While waiting for a fax to come in, another trucker heard about my dilemma and stuffed a $20 bill into my pocket and told me to have breakfast on him and to have a nice day. Wow!

Waiting here in Modesto to drop the 2nd load, we're being unloaded, Mike is calling to see if we can drop the last part of this multiple load early; otherwise, we have to drop the trailer in the drop yard in Stockton, bobtail home, get the DMV stuff done, and bobtail back to Stockton to pick up the trailer and take it to the customer by 20:00 tonight. I am going to pray for the idiot who had stolen my wallet-If he or she only knew the problems they have caused me. Thank god there was only a couple of bucks cash in the wallet... They won't get much since I cancelled all the credit cards. God help who did this to me...
